The Save Somali Marginalized and Minorities Organization (SASMO) is an organization that was established by members of the marginalized and minority groups, and whose composition in management and administration is mainly of the marginalized and minorities’ representation. However, it is a diverse organization that incorporates people from non-marginalized and minority groups. The structure and management of SASMO is as follows:
Board of Directors
The Board of Directors (BoD) is the decision-making body of the organization which is responsible forthedirectionoftheorganizationandsettheorganizationalpoliciesandstrategies.
The BoD streamlines the strategic implementation of the SASMO’s projects and coordinates activities with the relevant authorities in the intervention areas and decides on the courses of actions. The BOD has a chairperson, deputy, a treasurer and other members with important duties.
The Executive Body
The executive committee which is the management body implements the decisions made by the Board of Directors and is headed by the Executive Director. The Management runs the day to day activities of the organization and manages the program activities and interventions. The executive committees consists all program heads, coordinators, officers and assistances. They implement SASMO program activities and interventions and technically prepare the periodic program and operational plans of the organization.
Audit Unit
This body is internal structure of the organization which independently audits the organizational programs and financial transactions to ensure accountability, and learning is practised in the organization for improved services to the affected population and living standard of the marginalized and minorities.
